A Couple of Color Challenge Cards

Here are two cards that I had done a couple of weeks ago using a Color Challenge from the Play Date Cafe - PDCC94.  The Colors to use were Fudge, Goldenrod and Teal.  Definitely a stretch for me but I have a couple more cards to add to my stash :)  I love the saying from the GWP stamp on the card above - what a great reminder.

And this one uses one of the last sketches we had on our Angel Company Web site.  :(  I also had to try the gathered ribbon technique since I hadn't tried it yet.  It was kinda fun and I can't wait to use it again....stay tuned!

Have a great week all!

Kerry's Color Throwdown #7

Here is a quick card I did using the OH SO CUTE stamp set Emma's Cheese - I am so glad that I got a chance to get this set before it was too late.  She is adorable.  Kerry posted a Color Throwdown Challenge that used 2 shades of Gray and Yellow with ivory - didn't have any ivory with me so used the white.  It was a challenge for me but I think it turned out pretty well...  Hope you like it too!

The inside has the greeting that comes with cute little Lucy that says " Age doesn't matter unless you are a cheese"  Love it!

Have a great week.  I'll be back with another posting this weekend - I will be gone but have it scheduled.

August Christmas Card Challenge Cards

Over at Paper Wings some of us have gotten together to have a "Challenge" to get our Christmas Cards done a little at a time so we aren't scrambling at the last minute to get them done.....  My (realistic) goal was 8 cards per month and in August I did 10 (my actual goal) They don't have to all be the same or all different so I mixed it up a bit... And counting the ones I did for the July Blog Hop I am making some progress :)

Here is the group picture of 7 that I did all alike.  Love this Santa head that was a Level C hostess set "Love This Day"  Pretty simple but I like how they turned out.  The first one is a little different as it was my "trial" one. I liked it so made 6 more but had to use a different red.

Here are a couple that I did using up MORE scraps and the cute little reindeer from the Jingle Jolly Set.  Again pretty simple but fun to work with.

And this last one was just a fluke.  I was working on another card with Lucy's Cheese and thought I would see if I could make it into a Christmas Card.  Nothing Spectacular but an easy one to mail - not much layering and no thick embellishments.

Hope you enjoyed.  Off next weekend to a stamping/scrapbooking retreat and going to work on my September cards!  Have a great week!

Paper Wings Final Farewell Blog Hop

A Final Farewell Tribute to The Angel Company.....

As most of you know by now we have received very bad news this last week.  The Angel Company is no longer in business.  As hard as we all tried, this economy is getting the best of several small businesses and we were no exception.  This has been a tough week for many Angels but we will be forever grateful for the blessings we have received, the people that we have met and also the people we have grown to be become being part of an amazing company.  More than just a company, more than just a business adventure but a family and community.

Here are a few cards that I did using some images from a set called "Beautiful Lace" that I received from a very special Angel - Angela Kelly - an amazing lady who also designed our last catalog cover card.  Thank You Angela - you are truly inspiring....

Pink and Black - one of my favorite color combinations.....It is hard to see the true soft pink of the dress....it washed out pretty bad in the photo.  There is a heart pearl by the sentiment and a teeny tiny one on the bow of the dress....

This is actually one of my favorites.  The green strip through the center of the card is done with glitter on scor-tape, and the dots on the top half of the card are from glitter on glue dots.  I hadn't done this before it is was so easy and fun :)  Again kind of a washed out picture but I think you get the general idea....Love this card.

I never really thought I would get into the Victorian kind of cards, but this didn't turn out too bad.  Reminds me of an old photo of my Grandmother.  It is all done in a very soft peachy pink with brown and gold ribbon.  I sponged some Desert Sand Ink over the cuddlebuged background to age it a little and soften it up.  And even though you can't see it - I used the paper piercer to go around the lace edges.  Looks really cool in person.

I hope you enjoyed my cards for this blog hop- things that remind me of The Angel Company - Simple -Smart -Sophisticated and best of all fun.  Thanks for everything Mischelle - you have definitely made a difference in my life....

Ok Done with the mushy stuff now......

So grab your favorite beverage, sit back, check out the blogs below and prepare yourself to be inspired....

Circles Of Love Virtual Swap #4

A couple of things I did for a  Virtual Swap using the
Level A Hostess Set
"Circles of Love" (TA-3480)

The first is a pretty card using Angelee SWIC (V843), The "Love You" sentiment, the scalloped dot border and the large dotted background are all stamped with Grape Jelly Memento Ink (SC500) and embossed using Transcendence Embossing Powder  (C-151) It is so easy to have embossing powder that works with ANY COLOR dye based ink - no special inks necessary!
**The circle tag with the sentiment comes with the SWIC and worked perfectly with this card.  I punched a scallop from the dark purple coordinating Angelee CS (B322) using a Mega Scalloped Circle Punch (D-700).
**I also used the dk purple for the card front and the card base is a pale green, also from the Angelee Cardstock Asst.
**The ribbon is some that I had in my stash but have a feeling it may be some left from the Angelee Ribbon Asst.  The little purple floss is some "Sew Easy" Floss that we will have available soon - it is awesome stuff!  This shade is called "Lilac Breeze" and comes with 2 other coordinating shades (F-7677)
**I added a few (OK a LOT) of pearls but I think it turned out well.  Might be a great anniversary card or just a thank-you-I-Love-You-just-because card.  What do you think?

These little 3"x3" cards would be great little "Lunch Box Love Notes"  Something fun and a little different.....  They are all made with basically the same supplies....
Scarlet Cardstock (V-237),  Kraft Cardstock (V-244),  Raven Bazzil Cardstock,
White Ultrasmooth Cardstock (V-222), Rhubarb Memento Ink (SC301) Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (SC900) Palette New Canvas white ink  (TT-185) and again Transcendence Embossing Powder (C-151)  I also used a 3/4" circle punch (D-94) and 1" circle punch (D-71)  The little black buttons on the center set of cards were punched with a 1/2" circle punch that I happened to have in my stash.....a little misc. ribbon, ric-rac, and a couple of clear vinyl stickers and wa-la.  Fun little "Lunch Box Love Notes"!

For these two I embossed the bottom black panel with the New Canvas Ink and Transcendence EP,  added a little ric-rac and popped the little black embossed buttons up on red circles.  I didn't stamp sentiments on here yet because it will just depend on the day and who it goes to! ;)

These two have the "Love" circles embossed with the Rhubarb Ink, punched with the 3/4" punch and then matted on black 1" punched circles and popped up on pop dots.  The rest is pretty obvious :)

These two are similar but not quite a matched pair. Messed up a bit....oh well.  The 'You" is punched out with the 3/4" circle punch and has a clear vinyl sticker over it for a little extra attention.  They are also popped up on pop dots.  Although you can't see it very well in this photo, the cute scalloped border is embossed in Rhubard under the ribbon bow.  And the buttons are embossed with  holes poked in them and floss run through and tied in the back.  The black on the edge is punched with a border punch I found on a clearance rack at a local craft shop. I figured the punched out circles went well with the rest of the 'Circles of Love"

Hope you enjoyed this post.  They were great fun to make.  Can't wait to play with this set some more!  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me!  Have a great week!  Enjoy a little stamping time of your own!

A card for Christines Sketch Virtual Swap

Another quick card for Christine's Sketch Virtual Swap - Christine is an Angel that teaches classes based on using one sketch several ways - a different sketch each month - cool idea huh?  I did this card with an image that Angela had sent me to work with as shipping was a little slow in the beginning with the high demand and the new catalog :)  Thanks again Angela!

I used the Maggie SWIC and PrismaColor Pencils with OMS for blending, a few pearls, and although I don't think you can see it there is some faux stitching and some outlining done on this little sweetie with my favorite Clear Star Gel Pen.  And I promise - she really isn't on there as crooked as it looks - must have been a wierd angle with the camera.  My photo opportunities have been few and far between with the wind and a few dreary days.

Hope you enjoy - and check back later this week for a couple of more cards featuring Circles of Love - A level A Hostess set that you can earn with a minimum $100.00 party order!

A couple of cards for Kerry's Color Throwdown #6

Hey all, I've been MIA for a bit as hubby and I took a mini vacation, did a little boating, HE did a little fishing and I did a little reading, - stayed in a motel so no cooking, no cleaning, no dishes and no laundry (till I got home of course)  It was a great break.

But after the great Christmas In July blog hop from the previous post I wanted to play along with Kerry's Color Throwdown #6 and this great color combo.  Here are a couple of cards that use the August Card Club stamp set that is available for only $4.50 with any $30.00 order to all Card Club members!  It also uses one of the new Gift With Purchase stamps that are FREE with any $30.00 purchase - you can get a lot for your $30.00 purchase don't ya think?

This is the definition of simple stamping - no embellies, no bulk - and very little layering.....unusual for me :)

This one uses one of the new Tim Holtz embossing folders for the background and I sponged it with some brown ink for a little definition.  The "thank you" sentiment is from the "Apple of My Eye" set that I used for the card below too!

And of course I couldn't wait to ink up this sweet little bear from Maybelle's
"Apple of My Eye" set.

Hope you enjoy and can gather a little inspiration to get stamping!

Christmas In July Paper Wings Blog Hop

Welcome to the Christmas In July Paper Wings Blog Hop -   I had a great time playing with some Christmas stamps in traditional and not so traditional cards.  It was a great break from the heat!  Hope you like them :)

Quick, Fast and Easy card using the Jingle Jolly Set.

HedgeHog Happiness - is a Christmas Tree!  :)  Cut a second tree and layered it over the first stamped image and flared the edges outward to give it some dimension.  Some large eyelets for the wheels and we are on our way to a fun filled Holiday season!

Another Jingle Jolly - LOVE this little reindeer and used some scraps of Juliette SWIC to create a non-traditional colored card.

Another non-traditional card using Emma SWIC and a stamp from Coco and Mack.  The present is cut out and popped up and also has some Paper Glaze on it for shine :)

One of my favorites!  Another non-traditional card using Catelynn papers and Coco and Mack.  Colored with PrismaColor pencils and OMS.  A few tiny brown pearls and even one on the present.

Miss Lucy in kind of a nontraditional color scheme.  Emma SWIC and PrismaColor Pencils with OMS.  So much fun to color!

Another Lucy card - quick and easy with Background Soup for the green dots.  Fun and no extra postage!

One more nontraditional card - lots of layers and lots of fun.  Again Miss Lucy all in pink.  Some Uptown Girl papers, some stickles (hard to see the sparkle in the picture) and some pink pearls from the pink gem packs in the catalog.
Now that you have seen what I have done, check out the links below for some major inspiration and great ideas for a jump start on YOUR Christmas Cards!

Chair-ished Maggie

Happy Saturday all!

Finally getting a minute to show you the card that I designed for our Hostess Club last week.  You can see the other two that we did here on Stacy's Blog.  This was a pretty simple card but I think it turned out well.  We embossed the image using Transcendence Embossing powder and Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.

Have a great weekend!

August TAC Card Club Sneak Peak and Virtual Swap

Another busy week and it is Wednesday already!  We had a great Hostess Group class last night - some fun projects from the New Inspiration Book and Catalog and a super fun group of women!  I always enjoy our get togethers :)  I will post my project a little bit later but the link to Stacy's cards is HERE . Hope you enjoy.

But now down to business.... We are doing another Virtual Swap over on the Angels Only section of The Angel Company website and thanks to Connie Duckert who was kind enough to send me some stamped images I was able to play along.  Now keep in mind that these cards are again all made with scraps as my stamp supplies are for the most part still scattered in the garage and spare room as well as the dining room table.  The counter top we ordered finally came in today so hopefully if hubby can get it cut and fit, by this weekend I can start putting stuff together and back away!!! (Of course that is after all the class reunion activities!)  But here are my cards  - hope you enjoy.  And remember if you are a part of a Card Club or Hostess Club, you can purchase this wonderful " Happy Leaf" set for only $4.50 with any $30.00 order during the month of August!

A Fun Fall Card that is stamped with an "Autumn Leaves" Kaleidacolor Ink Pad.  These pads are so fun to work with and so versatile!  I added a little bit of clear star Gel Pen for added sparkle and some self stick brown half pearls.  On the inside is the rest of the matted greeting "birthday" also stamped with the Autumn Leaves Pad.  I wound some of the Sew Easy Floss (that we will hopefully have in stock soon since it it way fun to play with!) in red and green with a couple of strands of discontinued tan scrappers floss. Rounded the opposite corners for something a little different.  All cardstock used is DCWV except the image panel which I believe is either the birch or aspen natural cardstock.

This is one of my favorites.  It was fun playing with the fall colors and going through my scrap stash....and boy do I have a stash!  I outlined the red, orange and sentiment panel with some faux stitching again with the Clear Star Gel Pen. (although it is hard to see in the photo)  Punched a couple of scalloped circles from a brown Bazzil Scrap, the green base is Bazzil, the yellow I believe is from the Emma Collection, the smaller green and red pieces are Bazzil and the orange is just a scrap that I had cut out with my Nesties for a past project.  Scrap ribbon out of my bag and there ya go....Not too bad for a scrap card :)

This one happened totally by accident.  As I was putting things away I found this kraft scrap that is 2.5" x 12" and decided I could make an oddball card out of it.  Took a couple more of the leaf images that Connie had sent and again matted them on punched brown Bazzil scalloped circles.  I dug through my stash and found the Penelope striped scrap and the rust CS from the Winchester Collection CS and a green scrap and decided they would work with the other colors and wa-la...there ya have it :)  No greeting on this one yet but who knows -

And of course I couldn't throw away the square that I so carefully punched the scalloped circle out of, and the red DCWV scrap was just the right size to mat it on.  Punched the leaf image again from the great variety that Connie sent and popped it up in the center of the panel.  Found another green scrap of DCWV and brown Bazzil and now have a little 3"x3" gift card for any fall occasion.

Hope you enjoy my little scrap projects.  Remember that if you are a member of a Card Club or Hostess club you can buy this cute little stamp set for only $4.50 with any $30.00 purchase in August.  If you aren't a member of a Card Club, get a few friends together and host a card class!  You can earn this set for FREE as a hostess reward with only $100.00 in sales.
Can't beat that!

Have a great night and a great week.  I'll be back soon with some more card projects for you.  And make sure to stop back the evening of July 31st as we are having a wonderful Christmas in July Blog Hop on PaperWings!  It is looking to be pretty awesome - lots of inspiration to get your creative juices flowing!

Technique Blog Hop - SpotLIGHTing on the Savvy Projects Blog

Hey all - another week is gone already - WHERE does time fly?

On Friday The Angel Company featured a "Technique Blog Hop" using "spotLIGHTing"  I haven't done this before but it looked like an interesting challenge so I thought I would give it a try....I knew right away what stamp I wanted to use.  The "Relax and Fish" stamp that is a new release in our brand new Inspiration Book and Catalog.  This is also great timing to get a birthday card done for my hubby's b-day next month.  I love this stamp and you will see below that I did another card with it too....This is a great masculine stamp and even though it looks complicated to color it is very easy because of all the built in shading with the stamp itself!

Here is my try at spotlighting - You can't see it in this picture but I did put a little bit of paper glaze on the water in the spotlighted area to make it shine just a touch.  Kinda like it actually but think I would emboss my main image next time to make it show up a little better.  But since I am still working on my dining room table and most of my stuff is still in the garage in crates I figured this didn't turn out too bad...

Here is another one that I did with this same image.  I really like the way this one turned out.  I used some of my scrappers floss on the bottom with the button (that is now discontinued but have to use it up anyway :)  I can see that I will be making several masculine birthday cards with this stamp for male members of the family!

Check out the rest of the Technique Blog Hop here Savvy Projects Blog . and see more great examples.  And then get out your supplies and try a card for yourself!

Stop back this week and see the fun stuff that we are doing for Christmas In July - a full week of Christmas Ideas to cool you down!

A couple of cards from last weeks Hostess Club....

Hey All - was a busy busy weekend but camping was great in spite of the wind - HOLY COW did it blow!  Will have some newer cards to show you later in the week when I finish getting them put together.  Got some great coloring time in this weekend....Was interesting without any markers - nothing but Prisma Color Pencils and water color pencils - haven't done THAT for quite a while ......In the mean time here are a couple of cards from last weeks Hostess Club.....

This is one of my favorites - simple and easy - yet elegant.  Using a stamp set that I hate to see discontinued - "Little Things"  The ladies got to choose their sentiment for inside the card....  I also used Emma SWIC and coordinating cardstock - so pretty!  Oh ya - and the 'Faux Brads" in the bottom of the right hand corner were a big hit!

This one was also fun and easy - using one of the discontinued PWP stamps as well as the swirl from "Wonderful News" we created  a simple easy card that will fit in a standard letter sized envelope so we stamped on that to match :)  All we did was take a 6"x 6" piece of cardstock, score at 3" and fold in half.  4 cards out of 1 12" x 12" piece of cardstock!  Cool huh?  They also had the choice to use the Thank You Oval PWP stamp here.  On the inside they used sentiments from the "Wonderful News" set that would continue with the "For You" or the "Thank You"

For the third and last card that we did at our Hostess Club check out Stacy's Blog at

Have a great week - hope you enjoy!  Will be back soon with some new cards using images from our great sneak peak sets!

You Make My Heart Sing!

June and July Only!  Check out the cute images in this limited edition stamp set - available from The Angel Company for only $10.95  for the set of 8 with any $30.00 purchase!  I had so much fun playing with them!

Hard to get a good picture but I love this card and this little sweetie reminded me of a strawberry as soon as I saw her....Copics used were: G14, YG6, R35, R37, R01, R02, R11 and B00.  I also used TAC Scarlet cardstock, Premium White CS, and DCWV Green CS, the clear star gel pen, white gel pen, red scrappers floss and colored the ribbon and gems with my markers so they all match!

This is also for Kerry's Color Throwdown #5 to use Red, White, Blue and Yellow....
I used Copics again to color (I love my Copics!) R00, E000, E00, E01, BOO, B41, B45, R35, R37, Y32, Y35, and Y38.  I also used TAC Scarlet CS, Blue CS from the Toodle Loo SWIC and yellow DCWV CS, the white gel pen for a little faux stitching and a few freckles.  Again used the Copics to color my gems to match.

Isn't this little guy adorable? Another fun and easy card.  Copics used were: BG05, G14, G99, YG06, RV29, E00, E21, E31 and C1 for a shadow.  And again I used Scarlet CS, Green DCWV, and Blue Bazzil CS, and colored plain silver brads to match with the Copics too!

I used my trusty Scor-Buddy to add a little interest to this one, making diagonal score lines on the bottom half of the card.  Easy way to add just a little extra detail :)
And again colored my brads with Copics.  I used Bazzill Tan, Red and Green CS. Popped up the sweet sentiment on pop dots, and added a little piece of ribbon.  Copics used were: YG03,G99, R27, R29, R20, E31 and E33.

Another one that I was playing with for Kerry's Color Throwdown #5 to use Red, White, Blue and Yellow. http://thestampingbughaswings.blogspot.com/2011/06/its-color-throwdown-5.html   This one was made using only scraps and a couple of buttons. I colored with Prisma Colored Pencils and OMS this time and added some Paper Glaze on the balloon and the flower.

And last but not least - this one is for my daughter and downline Stacy, we do classes together and have so much fun. This was her favorite.  Although it is hard to see in the picture, the wings on this little sweetie were dotted with the clear star gel pen and then I went over them with Paper Glaze so they have some sparkle and dimension.  Just couldn't get a good picture. Copics used were: YG6, G14, R35, R37, R01, R02, R11, and B00.  A simple card but fun and easy.

Hope you enjoyed these cards!  Thanks Kerry for the images, I have had so much fun playing with them!  Can't wait to show these to my hostess club ladies this week
Have a great week all!
